Job Description

First or second year, working directly under our lead carpenters. Reliability and an interest in doing it properly matter more than experience.

What you would be doing

  • Running frame and fix
Leading the carpentry on one job at a time — frame, roof, cladding and fix-out on extensions and full renovations.
  • Working on period homes
Uneven floors, solid brick, lath and plaster, and cornices and mouldings that need matching. Careful, patient work.
  • Setting the standard on site
You are the benchmark for the apprentices and the trades who follow you. If your work is straight and clean, theirs tends to be too.
  • Working with Shane and Glen
Program, sequencing and quality sign-offs. You will be asked what you think, and it will change decisions.
  • Keeping the site right
Clean, safe and made good every afternoon. Neighbours are close on these blocks and clients often still live in the house.

What you need

  • Cert III in Carpentry (or equivalent trade qualification)
  • Five years or more on site, post-apprenticeship
  • Own tools and a reliable ute
  • Current White Card

  • Experience on renovations or extensions rather than volume new builds
  • A driver licence and the ability to get to Bayside sites

Nice to have

  • Experience with heritage or period-home work
  • Working at heights or EWP tickets
  • First aid certificate
  • Some experience leading apprentices
  • If you have most of the list but not all of it, still call us. We would rather meet the right person and train the gaps.
